At the pool, one becomes embraced by a unique gamut of sensations. Water becomes a second skin, licking you from head to toe. It lifts you onto lighter feet. Like a man on the moon, but without the weight of a space suit, you find yourself jumping and bouncing in it, and holding your breath and flying in it. Running to the Pool is, in a way, like returning to that fetal state where all was new and mysterious, where sensations were immediate and warm, where the sound of the pump recycling the water is somewhat akin to the beating of the heart.
