do my works take a totally abstract turn. Even this one retains
intimations of whimsy or childhood, as suggested in its title. The
adding machine buttons on the front reminded me of a fusion between
children's board games and computers. At the same time, there is
a distinctly adult tone to the title, as it is, being taken from
gambling jargon. Usually, I would not use a title with dark
connotations, but the juxtaposition, in this case, what with the
jagged edges and assertiveness of the piece, seemed appropriately
ironic.
